027/365 Tall Vanilla Latte

027/365
Tall Vanilla Latte
This week's theme is FOOD and I have to be honest when I say, for me, coffee is definately a food group.  I like ice coffee and Nikki likes vanilla lattes.....well she really likes Thai coffee but nobody makes it right and even though this is a Starbucks cup Nikki prefers her vanilla latte's from Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.

Maya Little Pony
A good friend of mine named Maya made me a video message last night that was just about the cutest thing ever....so in thanks I drew her as a My Little Pony with a bow and arrow cutie mark because she is a Sagittarius.  The colors were chosen because she is a Golden Boar in the Chinese Zodiac... Thanks again Maya.  You're awesome-zingy.

Kaci Zodiac Mash Up

And last but not least our teenager Kaci who is a Saggitarius & a Tiger in the Chinese Zodiac.  Feels a bit funny drawing her since she could draw herself about 17 times better than I can, but it was still fun.  Thanks for all the inspiriation K.

019/365 Happy Birthday Nikki

019/365
Happy Birthday Nikki

Today is my wife Nikki's 34th birthday.  She and I have been together now for over 12 years and married for almost two

(Feb. 18th, our wedding anniversary, is approaching fast).

Without getting too sappy by speaking about how much I love her which I do!!!!!!
Without going on and on about how beautiful she is...her eyes....her hair...her heart.
which she is!!!!!
Without going into great detail about the astounding strength of her convictions and character,
which is immense!!!!!!!

Let me say this.

Everyone who meets you is better for it
Everyone you call a friend feels blessed by it
Everyone you love is richer because of it

Happy Birthday
Nikki Jennifer Gritti

I love you always,
Chris

012/365 Hello Shappo

012/365
Hello Shappo

Soooooo....
Halfway through the week and I'm not posting any of my doodles.

Why?!? you demand with passion

Mostly because I've been drawing them very late at night and end up falling asleep after.  Anywhooo... Last week's theme was Hello Kitty and this week's theme is the Sentimental Circus, one of my wifes favorites.  A good friend suggested a crossover/transitional doodle when I was having a bit of a block on Sunday.  That night I drew this or rather.....I drew this

Thanks Todd.

Since it's my better half's birthday this coming Sunday I'll be mixing her into the doodles if I can.  As I write this it's about 2am my time on Thursday the 16th which means I've got a little catching up to do with posting them.  But the important thing is to draw everyday not necessarily post everyday....though I wish I were that efficient.  Maybe by the end of this project I will be.

p.s.:  Shappo is the name of the character on the left.

007/365 Hello Midlife Crisis

Hello Midlife Crisis

Here's Tuesday's HK piece.  I sketched it out Tuesday and just finished coloring it last night.  Not that I didn't already respect Comic Book Artists a great deal but I'm learning how many steps go into bringing an image from sketchbook to finished work.  I would have taken even more time with this if it wasn't part of my plan to do a drawing a day.  If I spend to much time on one I'll get backed up.  At least I'm sticking to having a sketch done each day.

Here's the scanned sketch.

Here's to staying young at heart

006/365 Hello Peanuts

Hello Peanuts

Week two's theme is Hello Kitty...she's turning 40 this year and she's still as popular as ever.

005/365 Yearly Tarot Reading

005/365
Yearly Tarot Reading

This is the last drawing from the first week's theme of (New Years).  Every year I do a year encompassing Tarot reading for both myself and my with Nikki.  I know it's a little silly but we found it to be a lot more fun to have our own personalized monthly horoscope rather than follow anything we read in a book or in the newspaper (for anyone that still reads the physical newspaper0.  The top two cards are for January and the rest of the months follow clockwise from there.  The center cards are for the whole year.  So once I do the spread we enter the cards into our google calendars for each month and look up the meanings when a new month begins then add the year cards to that reading.  We've had a lot of fun with this and its become a tradition for us this being the third year we've done it.

Since I had a drawing project with a New Year themed week I chose to draw my spread for the final day of the theme.  I drew my own doodles to represent the cards so some of them are a bit kooky like me.  I'm still planning on coloring it all in at some point but I wanted to post it to keep up with this blog.

004/365 Kagami Mochi

004/365 Kagami Mochi

Like my first drawing depicted we pounded mochi this year

and got ourselves another tradition.

(Mochi
is made into a New Year's decoration called kagami

mochi
(鏡餅), formed from two round cakes of mochi with

tangerine ( daidai) placed on top. The name daidai is

supposed to be auspicious since it means "several

 generations.")

Huge thanks again to Barry and his family for including the

 Gritti's in their tradition...great fun.

And thanks to my daughter Kaci for this prompt.

One more day of Happy New year drawings and then on to

the next weeks theme...which you'll have to check back to

find out.

003/365 Bullseyes year

003/365 Bullsye's Year

Keeping with this first's weeks theme of New Year's stuff I'm reminded that we are moving into the Year of the Horse.

002/365 My social network map

002/365 My Social Network Map

This idea spawns from my next YouTube video which I'm still in the editing process but I really needed to map out how I was going to use each of these networks or I'd never be consistant.

001/365 Thor pounds mochi

001/365 Thor Pounds Mochi

So starts my sorta silly, self inflicted, creative drawing project of 2014.  I can't promise they'll get any better than this for the rest of the year but hey nobody's forcing you to look.
